Matheson A-Line

The A-Line marks the first fully realized collection of original Matheson designs—distinct in form, intentional in detail, and built without compromise.

While my work has long drawn from mid-century modern principles, the A-Line represents an evolution of that foundation. The goal was to create something that feels equally at home in both mid-century and contemporary interiors—familiar in spirit, but entirely its own.

This design originated from a client seeking a custom piece that would seamlessly integrate into a mixed interior while addressing the needs of a young family. A key requirement was the absence of sharp edges—something visually soft, but also physically safe and approachable.

What emerged is a defining element of the A-Line: a fully rounded case, free of hard corners, that appears to float above a sculpted base of gently curved legs. Every transition is softened. Every edge resolved. The result is a piece that feels intentional from every angle—quietly distinctive, and unmistakably its own.

The first piece in the A-Line collection introduces the design’s defining balance of softness and structure. Crafted from solid walnut, the case is paired with grain-matched ambrosia maple fronts and a matching interior—creating a continuous, intentional flow from exterior to within.

Clean in form yet warm in presence, the piece reflects the core of the A-Line philosophy: refined, approachable, and quietly distinctive.

The Matheson A-Line 6 Drawer Dresser builds on the collection’s defining principles of balance, restraint, and softened form. With its clean lines and fully rounded edges, the A-Line silhouette introduces a sense of calm and continuity—bringing a refined, architectural presence to the bedroom while remaining warm and approachable.

Each piece is made to order with careful attention to proportion, material, and craftsmanship. Subtle transitions and seamless joinery create a dresser that feels grounded yet light, designed to integrate effortlessly into both mid-century and contemporary spaces.

Crafted from solid walnut, the dresser features six generously sized drawers with thoughtfully aligned grain across the facade. Soft-close undermount slides provide smooth, quiet operation, while integrated pulls preserve the uninterrupted, sculptural quality of the form.
